John
Hoare and his lovely wife Carol first wandered into The Woodman on Friday
13th February 2015. Having returned from a winter sun holiday the day
before, they were suffering ‘post-holiday blues’ and randomly selected The
Woodman in search of some live music. It proved to be a very fortuitous
choice and they have been Friday night regulars ever since. When John,
rather nervously, took the stage at a singers’ night shortly afterwards, it
had been almost forty years since he had last performed in public, at the
college folk club he had been running. When he joined the list of resident singers at the club, John initially relied heavily on the work of his musical hero, Ralph McTell, but as his confidence grew, he expanded his repertoire and began writing his own material. John now has a CD of his own songs – ‘The Tin Man’ – and has done some ‘support’ slots around the Midlands. Lately, John has been joined on stage by Carol, who adds harmonies and keyboard. |
