(Review taken from Derry's Facebook Post) If you crave the best of traditional folk, followed by an extra helping of rip-roaring contemporary folk, layered on top of some excellent original compositions, then Mick Bisiker & Friends is the band for you. They laid on a show that was jam-packed with all of the above and more. The standard of songwriting was exceptional, the musicianship was outstanding and the presentation/stage-presence was both professional and joyous. Humorous antics and anecdotes did abound and the culmination of all this served to delightfully enthral everyone in the room. To sum-up, it was simply the best! Opening for the band was our very-own Lintel, (John and Carol Hoare). Lintel, once again provided us with top-notch entertainment. Everything from beautifully written original songs, excellent covers and well composed original poetry, Lintel had it covered. It was an inspired performance and a great platform to test out Johns shiny new guitar! Nice one! MC Chris Irving, stood firm and held back the “Multitudinous Throngs” in his own initiable way. Thanks also to Mr Gary on AV, and the Techy-up, Techy-down teams for their sterling efforts. Also, thanks to the marvellous Ashwood Marina staff for helping and supporting the Woodman Folkies. You’re all stars. Enjoy Yourself! Derry & Deb xx |
