In our 38th year and stronger than ever

Hi Folks

Don't forget that tonight (7th March) sees the welcome return of guitar genius CLIVE CARROLL. This is always a very special night so please come early to ensure a good seat near the front to marvel at the artistry.

As we come to the end of our stay at The Woodman there is no let up in the quality of the entertainment you can expect. Next week (14th March) sees the first appearance at the club of RAG MAMA RAG.

France based husband and wife team Ashley and Deborah Dow perform traditional country blues drawing their material from such luminaries as Leadbelly and Robert Johnson. Additionally they also have a wealth of their own self penned

With an interesting and wide range of instruments, RAG MAMA RAG create an exceptionally full and hard driving rhythmic sound that soon gets the audience tapping their feet. This infectious good time feeling has made RAG MAMA RAG much sought after for festivals throughout Europe.

We take break for Good Friday (21st March) before we steel ourselves for the demise of THE WOODMAN on Friday 28th March.

After 37 years the doors of the pub will shut for the last time. We aim to say good-bye and thank you to the old place with some style with a SINGERS NIGHT although I would not be surprised if we get a few surprises on the night.

On a personal level I shall be particularly sad because having been there in 1971 when the club opened (Tommy Dempsey & Jonathon Swift were the first guests) a prior commitment means that I am unable to be there!

But we must look forwards and the following week (4th April) sees us taking up residence at

Ashwood Lower Lane

Our first evening will be a SINGERS NIGHT so lets have all you performers out in force to get the new venue off to a flying start.

Look forward to seeing you all soon.
