In our 38th year and stronger than ever |
Hi Folks Its just a couple of weeks now until the clocks go back and we huddle into the long dark days of Winter but here at The Woodman we are doing all we can to bring a little sunshine and warmth to you. This coming Friday, 17th
October, we say hello to good friend ANTHONY JOHN CLARKE. Anthony John first came to
The Woodman in 2002 and his highly polished performances and hugely
entertaining patter have established himself as a firm favourite. As ever,
Anthony John will be accompanied by the beautiful keyboard playing and
sensitive harmonies of the delightful Elizabeth Van De Waal . Anthony John writes songs
that have the ability to simultaneously touch a nerve and have you laughing in
the blink of his eye. Songs such as "The Broken Years", "The
Only Life Gloria Knows", "An Acquaintance of Mine" and the
wonderfully irreverent "Tuesday Night is Always Karaoke" have
rapidly becoming folk standards. Anthony John Clarke is
comfortable with his songs, he is comfortable with his surroundings and, above
all, he is supremely comfortable with his audience. A couple of SINGERS NIGHTS
follow on 24th October and 31st October (please
note, on this night, broomsticks should be left in the entrance lobby!)
We then swing into another
month of top quality entertainment. On 7th November we renew
acquaintance with the wonderful CATHRYN CRAIG & BRIAN They are never less than
highly polished and are always hugely entertaining. Ever very popular they
give a performance full of energy that never fails to delight the audience. The following week 14th
November we say hello again to the
talents of MARTYN WYNDHAM READ Martyn's crystal clear voice
and sensitive interpretation of both English and Australian songs, has, quite
rightly, established him in the highest echelons of artists for well over 3
decades. Martyn has long been a favourite at the club and is one of the
artists who is booked year after year. Indeed, he has appeared at the Woodman
in almost all of its 38 years of operation. One of the most engaging
performers you're ever likely to see, his exceptionally intimate performance
combines songs, humorous bush poetry recitations, stories and anecdotes of
outback life and comments on Australian history and culture that typically
leave the audience ready to book the next flight out to Sydney! And what next you may ask? How about this? FRIDAY 21st NOVEMBER we are
proud to present MARTIN CARTHY MBE. ** This is bound to be a sell
out, so contact Ian as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. ** Friday 28th November. JUDY DINNING & KENNY
SPIERS Can it get any better you ask
yourself? Well we still have the
Christmas Party and Pantomime to look forward to on the 12th December. Once

and we will look forward to seeing you all soon. Trevor |
