In our 39th year and stronger than ever

What fabulous entertainment has been served up over the past few weeks. Our guests have really done us proud so a great thank you to FOLA, DAVE LOVE, MICK BISIKER, AL ROMANOV and JADEY CAREY, ALAN PROSSER and WILL MORGAN.

This Friday, 20th February, is a SINGERS NIGHT so please come along and give us a song, tune or even just tell a joke or two.

Friday, 27th February, sees the welcome return to of THE QUEENSBERRY RULES.

Hailing from Stoke-on-Trent, THE QUEENSBERRY RULES are Gary Wilcox, Phil Hulse and Duncan Wilcox. They were formed in September 2001. Cultivating the rich seams of their local history and tradition, they exhibit storytelling ability and social awareness that belie their years. They have achieved what they have by working hard in the traditional way by playing floor spots and supports slots around the country.

The following week, 6th March, we have a REAL treat for you in the shape of FULL HOUSE

All five musicians in Full House are from Cheshire, they play an exciting mix of songs and tunes drawn from many sources, including their own compositions. They first came to the club last May and were an instant success. Between them, the five musicians have such a vast wealth of experience and musicianship to draw on we can look forward to an eclectic mix of exciting music.

The quality continues on 13th March with the return of the lovely KIRSTY McGEE and MATT MARTIN.

Kirsty and Matt have been coming to the club since 2003 and they have been a constant source of delight.

Kirsty McGee's life has not been that of an ordinary singer-songwriter. She began performing in bands in and around Manchester aged nineteen. In the late 1990s she worked alone on the acoustic scene, and immediately found a new audience who liked her distinctive writing style and strong voice. Now with Matt Martin they are a formidable duo. Welcome back.

We take a breather on 20th March with a SINGERS NIGHT. This is very close to St Patrick’s Day so can we anticipate an Irish song or two? It’s your night, so you decide.

The following week, 27th March we bid a very warm welcome to the one and only BILL CADDICK.

Bill has been writing and singing songs of the very highest quality for more years than either he or I would wish to remember. That he is not better lauded is, quite frankly, criminal. If you have any doubt whatsoever of his credentials just consider the songs he has written and the artist that have recorded his material; including June Tabor and Christy Moore. John O’Dreams must be one of the best - known songs in folk clubs throughout the world and it has received the ultimate accolade of being parodied by the irreverent Les Barker.

We have lots to look forward to in the near future including FLAXENBY and the very welcome return of KIERAN HALPIN.

Many thanks for your support and we will look forward to seeing you all soon.
