Well its’ bin ‘n gone for another year, Christmas came and went,
Then Boxing Day, the sales are on, but all yer money’s bin spent……………….except of course for that little stash salted away at the back of yer wallet saved specially for funding January’s Friday nights at the Woodman, and what a month we have in store for you, consisting entirely of extremely talented LOCAL artistes, and starting………

……..on Friday the 6th with another of our legendary Singers’ Nights.
Don’t be disappointed, these singers nights are normally over-subscribed so do please contact Debby or Derry on 01384 560462 to ensure you get a floor spot, we have a maximum of 14 slots. Alternatively just come and enjoy the talent on display. A great night is guaranteed!

Then on the 13th we welcome back Pete Kelly – truly a legend in his own lunchtime!
As I’ve said before, you all know Pete – everybody knows Pete….he’s world famous from Tipton to Arizona and he might even bring along his pony…..but maybe not after that little accident on the stage last time! Pete has been delighting audiences both at the club, in other local venues and indeed further afield for many years now and long may he continue. An excellent guitarist, gifted songwriter and all round good egg. Welcome back mate!

On Friday the 20th we will be presenting our first club newcomers of the year in the shape of Tamworth based folkies Mitres Well. This trio, comprising of two Stephen’s and a Malcolm, who between them strum, blow and beat a variety of instruments to accompany their fine voices, have been around for a good while. The original band, Ruffin’s Well, was formed in 1984, later disbanded and the current line-up took off in 1996. You might say we’re a tad overdue in inviting them to the Woodman!! Anyway we’re rectifying that tonight so let’s give ‘em a rousing Woodman welcome and ….enjoy.

Finally, on the 27th we are delighted to be welcoming back John & Emma Richards and Jim Sutton. Our old mate and club regular John has retired from performing…….well he did…… for about 5 minutes, realised how much he missed it and…..guess what….he’s back!! Admittedly no longer gigging with the full band but this trio of John, his daughter Emma and long time gig partner, Jim make a cracking full bodied sound and we are delighted to welcome them back to the club about a year after their last appearance. They are all excellent musicians and vocalists and John is simply a master of the art of songwriting, so expect a lot from tonight……..you’ll certainly get it!

Not a bad start I reckon, so here’s to 2017…..bring it on!!

Cheers

Rob
