What a fabulous month we had in June ‘eh! Fantastic performances from our own local lad Malcolm Jeffrey, followed by a cracking club regulars showcase night, and we’ve still got the superb, eccentric Gerry Colvin band to go yet!! Phew.
Anyway, July is now just around the corner - (where on earth is this year going??), - and as usual it’s a short month for Woodman goers but entertaining nonetheless, so without further ado, here goes :-

Friday 7th July sees the very welcome return of our dear friends and Woodman regulars….(well at least one of them still is) Keith & Tim Judson. The Judson’s, both father and son, as both solo artistes and together, have been delighting the Woodman audience for quite a long time now and it’s always a pleasure to welcome them back to the club, as friends as well as club guests. Both Tim and Keith are accomplished singers, songwriters and musicians and I suspect that most, if not all that we hear tonight will be self-penned. No doubt Tim will regale us with tales of his travels far and wide which have greatly influenced his music, whilst Keith’s influences tend to be more locally based and sometimes influenced by his faith and no doubt there will still be a few of his recent CD’s for sale with proceeds going to the Primrose Hospice. Welcome back, both of you.

The following week, the 14th, as always we will be closed because the Woodman tends to move almost lock, stock and instruments to the world famous spectacular that is BROMSGROVE FOLK FESTIVAL! See you there I hope.

Friday the 21st sees our final club night of the season as we look forward to a summer break of festivals, holidays, barbecues and whatever else floats our collective boats, but worry not dear folkers because we are once again going to be thoroughly entertained and amused by our own local Cradley Heath lad, none other than the Bev Pegg Band. For the last few years Bev and the lads have closed our programme for the summer break and this year will be no exception. If you haven’t seen Bev before you will be in for a treat. He’s a very talented singer, excellent guitarist and always manages to surround himself with a superb bunch of musicians. His performance will no doubt include original folk style numbers as well as little ventures into bluegrass, skiffle and jazz- and as a bonus – he’s extremely funny!

That will be all folks so enjoy the summer break and we’ll see you all again when you roll up in your droves to renew your memberships on September the 15th! Till then, Cheers and have a good break……

Cheers
