Crikey!! What happened to October….oh, there it was, gone!!
In the blink of an eye November is upon us and once again we have a superb line up of guests for our delectation and delight – a heady mixture of new acts and return visits the club and so we kick off with……..
….Friday 3rd brings a welcome return for only his second appearance at the club to the inimitable Mr. Keith Donnelly. Well……what can you say about Keith Donnelley? Simply this – he’s an excellent guitarist, superb singer/songwriter, VERY funny man, first rate children’s entertainer so he’ll feel right at home with us lot!! His songs encompass the whole gamut of styles from comedy to sensitive ballads with some hot up-tempo stuff thrown into the mix for good measure. He will no doubt regale us with tales of his escapades during his many years of touring and performing in the UK and overseas. This will certainly be a night not to be missed!
Then on the 10th we present, all the way from Statesboro, Georgia and enjoying his third appearance at the club, Brooks Williams. Brooks is now a UK resident although he still tours extensively and never fails to fit us in when in the UK. Brooks is a master of the guitar - rated in the world’s top 100 - and an excellent singer songwriter. He records on his own record label and these days, seems more at home with blues and Americana styles. He has an enormous back catalogue of over 20 CD’s from his 25+ years of making music and he’s sure to travel home with a lighter load than he came with!
That takes us to the 17th and another of our ever popular Singers’ Nights. Usual rules apply so get there early to book your spot as Singers' Nights are very popular and slots are limited However, to be sure, it would be best to book a spot in advance by contacting Debby & Derry either by phone or email - contact details are on the home page.
Please note that if you have pre-booked a spot you need to be at the club before 8:30 to confirm, or the slot may be re-allocated.
Then finally on the 24th we are presenting a new act to the club, namely The Trials of Cato. Billed as “The Biggest British folk band ever to come out of The Levant”, (have there been others???), this trio of Robin Jones, Will Addison and Tomos Williams so impressed us earlier this year at the Wirral folk festival that they were snapped up for a club appearance there and then! They all sing, they all play, with the usual selection of stringed instruments in the mix and they perform a strong set of both original and traditional material. AND I believe we can most certainly claim that they will be the only band we have ever booked that performed their debut on Radio Beirut!! (I may be wrong…..but I doubt it).
That’s all folks…….so see you there!
