Newsletter - April 2019

The more observant amongst you may possibly have noticed that there was no March newsletter sent out. This was due entirely to circumstances totally beyond my control and for which I sincerely apologise, however I’m sure you’ll be pleased to hear that normal service has now been resumed so without further ado here is the programme for April commencing…….
…….with Friday April 5th and the very welcome return of one of our favourite club regulars, none other than Mr. Anthony John Clarke. It was back in September 2017 was when AJ last graced our stage, treating us to his finely honed act, now very much a mix of comedy and music, featuring his enormous catalogue of self-penned songs. Well, what can you say about AJC? Almost a club resident, he’s only missed a couple of years since the beginning of the century!! He loves coming to the club, we love having him to entertain us so it’s perfect symmetry. Seriously, he really is an excellent singer/songwriter, something of a raconteur and an all round nice fella. You’ve all seen him many times before but he never fails to deliver a superb nights entertainment so sit back and enjoy.

Then on the 12th we are again going to be hosting an artiste new to the club, namely Edwina Hayes. Although many of you may well have encountered Edwina before, - she’s been a powerful presence on the folk club and festival scene for many years now - this will actually be her Woodman debut and we are extremely pleased to welcome her to the club. Edwina’s beautifully written songs, charming stage presence and voice of an angel have won her a reputation as a true natural talent of gentle folk-Americana. She has opened numerous shows for Jools Holland and Van Morrison as well as her own gigs playing stages everywhere from Glastonbury Festival to The Royal Albert Hall. The title track of her album ‘Pour Me A Drink’ was covered by Nanci Griffith who calls her 'the sweetest voice in England. As accolades go, they don’t come much better than that!

On Friday the 19th the club will be closed as it’s GOOD FRIDAY and as you know from previous years, we always shut down for it.

Finally on the 26th it will be one of our ever popular Singers Nights. Get there early to book your spot as Singers Nights are very popular and slots are limited. However, to be sure, it would be best to book a spot in advance by contacting Debby & Derry either by phone or email - contact details are on the home page. Please note that if you have pre-booked a spot you need to be at the club before 8:30 to confirm, or the slot may be re-allocated.

Cheers
