Newsletter - April 2020

Well, what a palaver ‘eh! Who’d’ve thought the April Newsletter would contain all the following information about the artists that are not going to be coming to the club?

….on Friday 3rd we were going to be introducing a new act to the club namely Dave Ellis & Boo Howard. Well that ‘aint gonna happen is it!

Then on the 10th you can cast your mind back to the days when you could all go down the pub, or you can just stop in and watch some more telly, (not that you haven’t seen quite enough lately), because we will be closed as its GOOD FRIDAY (and we have the Coronavirus outbreak). I hasten to add that Good Friday wasn’t so named just because we’re shut!!

The 17th should have featured the third appearance at the club of the excellent Landermason. But nope, there will be no Landermasoning tonight. If your memory is good enough to remember them from their two previous appearances, or you have the ability to tune in to You Tube, you can sing along with them to your heart’s content while self-isolating. Another time no doubt.

It’s been getting on for ten years since we hosted the wonderful Johnny Coppin at the Woodman and unfortunately that’s not going to change on the 24th because he won’t be coming along to entertain us tonight. Hopefully Johnny, the rest of the Coppin family and of course ALL of our wonderful guests and friends are taking good care of themselves, writing new songs and generally storing up enthusiasm to get back into the fray once things settle down.

May should of course have begun with another singers’ night but I wouldn’t bother to try and book a slot ‘cos you won’t get one……..neither will the other 13 hopefulls, not this month anyway. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible – as it used to say when our old 9” telly broke down!!

In common with all the other fabulous artistes that have had to be cancelled, those named above will of course all be offered future dates once we get to the other side of this vile pandemic so be not afraid – we have loads to look forward to once things return to normal.

This will therefore be the last Newsletter until I can joyfully inform you about what’s in store when we eventually re-open, which unfortunately may not be anytime soon.

Cheers
