(Review taken from Derry's Facebook Post) Tonight was an absolute joy. Bob Fox showed us all why he is one of this country’s finest singer/guitarist and interpreter of songs. A true master of live entertainment and a leading exponent of British folk music, Bob is also one of the busiest, most hard-working people on the folk scene today. Bob had the audience spellbound from the first note, through two superb sets and right up to the roars for more at the end. Each song rang out loud and clear, the story and the message resonating with the audience and the audience responding with absolute delight. The music and words were perfectly matched to each note, with subtle mood changes enhanced by the choice of beautifully harmonic guitar tunings and intricate fingerpicking’s. The accented vocal delivery was un-mistakenly Bob Fox, a voice that is widely admired and rated as one of the best male vocals in the country, an accolade rightly deserved. If you crave for a safe, warm, traditional folky Christmas, buy any one of Bob Fox’s albums, sit back in front of the fire and relax. Bob Fox, the true song man. Superb! Not to be out-shined our wonderful Woodmanite, Bryn Phillips did us all proud. Plucking songs from his vast wealth of material and belting them out with great skill. Every subject you can think of is covered by at least one of Bryn’s most excellent self-penned works. From political statements, blues, biographical stories to humorous encounters with river fish?? Oh, and don’t forget the Christmas cracker jokes!! Brilliant Bryn! Also massive thanks to Mr Gary on photos, John B on AV, the Techy-up Techy-down teams and to the hard-working staff and customers of the Ashwood Marina. We love you all, (especially the cake) Enjoy Yourself! Derry & Deb xx |
