(Review taken from Derry's Facebook Post) A great big thank you for a great performance from Dave Ellis & Boo Howard for providing an excellent gig at The Woodman Folk Club. Dave & Boo brought something refreshingly different to the Woodman and presented it in a thoroughly enthralling and massively entertaining way. Both are exceptional songwriters of great distinction. Dave’s enchanting professional guitar style adapted to every nuance, from blues, ballads and even prog-folk-rock. Dave’s voice was equal to all the subtle twists and turns throughout the musical program. Boo has a remarkably flexible vocal skill which was perfectly tuned on all levels to accentuate each musical gem, from smooth and pure to powerfully emphatic on the rockier numbers. Refined Bass riffs and a keyboard style with a classical flare, rounded the performance off perfectly. Two exceptionally talented people with bags of stage presence, delivered top-quality songs and gave us all a wonderful night to remember. Well done to fellow Woodmanite, Dick Woodhouse, who’s support act was varied and awesome! Our ever-willing Techy-up and Techy-down team were on the ball as usual and MC Bryn, (AKA Bryn Phillips), was, as ever, funny, professional, and superb. Big shout-out to Mr Gary on photography and to our Videographer extraordinaire, Mr John Bailey. Thanks to all the Ashwood Marina staff & customers for their unwavering support. Thank you all. Enjoy Yourself! Derry & Deb xx |
