Tonight I had to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming. The Woodman Folk Club was packed to the rafters with an audience radiating excited expectation and jubilant anticipation of what was about to occur. Were they disappointed? That’s a resounding, No!

Kim Lowings & The Greenwood bravely and confidently took to the Woodman stage, and duly brought the house down. Now a trio after the sudden and unexpected passing of Dave Sutherland, friend, musician, and excellent songwriter; the stoic determination and inherent talent that exudes from these guys burns brighter than ever. Kim’s’ beautiful lead vocals accompanied by her harmonious Dulcimer/Guitar playing is skilfully accentuated by Andrew’s prowess on multiple stringed instruments. Tim’s driving yet subtle rhythms dexterously amalgamate the global soundscape, completing a faultless delivery of fascinating, top-quality songs. The room was just buzzing with absolute delight. Also on display was Tim’s carpentry skills. He assembled a beautifully made wooden Cajon drum kit in double quick-time, that sounded absolutely amazing! Magic, pure magic. Well done to Kim and the lads, you nailed it!

Opening for the band was our very-own Lintel, (John and Carol Hoare). Lintel, once again provided us with top-notch entertainment. Everything from beautifully written original songs, excellent covers, and a professional, well-constructed set, Lintel had it all under control. It was an inspired performance and one that Kim couldn’t resist joining in with too! Nice one!

MC Chris kicked off the evening with his usual classic style and grace!!! Thanks to the Techy-up & Techy-down team and to Mr Gary for the photos. John Bailey did a grand job on videoing the gig and was also a guiding influence for the AV team, yes, I said AV team. Maya and Jess were expertly shooting a documentary-type video covering the whole folk club phenomena, from setup, performance, and audience experience and ethos. Watch this space.

Enjoy Yourself!
