(Review taken from Derry's Facebook Post) Day we ava lof! Well, yes, we did. But we had so much more than that. The superb Mr Pete Kelly stepped up to a full house and delivered a show that had everyone, singing, smiling, heckling and doing just about everything that’s not naughty, with words ending in ”ing”. Pete Kelly is a consummate entertainer, a fabulous singer/songwriter, and a larger-than-life character, that just exudes talent and is every bit as good as most of the main-stream folk acts doing the rounds at the moment. Pete is a fabulously talented guitarist, and an excellent song-writer, but when you couple that with a wickedly funny “between the songs” patter and an easy-going, hilariously self-deprecating delivery, you have pure entertainment gold! And, he did all this suffering with Laryngitis! What a true professional. Pete Kelly, we thank you! Who could possibly open for a big personality like Pete Kelly?? Well, an even bigger personality, that’s who! Emma Langford has personality in bagful’s, but that’s not all. Emma has a stage presence that can connect with the audience immediately from the minute she walks on-stage. Emma chooses some great material to cover and writes her own stuff too. Emma has a brilliant Tipton accent that she exploits to great comedy effect, but when she sings her voice is transformed into a beautifully smooth, clear, and precise musical instrument. Back this up with a perfectly uncomplicated guitar style and you have a seamless musical match. Emma Langford, you’re a star! MC Bryn was at the helm yet again, manfully taking charge and leading us safely through the night. Thanks to Bryn. Also, thanks to the Techy-up and Techy-down teams, the photography by Mr Gary, and Videography by Mr John Bailey. Last but not least the wonderful bar staff and customers at Ashwood Marina. We certainly did; Enjoy Ourselves! Derry & Deb xx |
