Born at an early age in the North Riding of Yorkshire, Dick has been playing guitar since his mid-teens and started performing in folk clubs soon after. His diverse repertoire often includes a song by the late Jake Thackray, and also includes traditional, contemporary or comedy songs, as well as the occasional instrumental. A keen exponent of alternative guitar tunings, especially DADGAD, he also sometimes plays the anglo concertina or the mandolin.
