I hope you had a warm and peaceful Christmas.

The New Year is the start of our 40th anniversary celebration commencing on 7th January with a Singers’ Night; we always get a wide variety of excellent local artists, so look forward to a superb evening (snow permitting). Bring your shakers but also some extra money because there will be a special CD available with songs donated by local artists, the proceeds of which will go to a deserving local charitable cause.

The following week 14th January Billy and Lozz will be entertaining us. They are stalwarts of the local music scene doing brilliant work keeping the folk tradition alive as well as carrying out countless charity events. Their music is second to none with Lozz playing masterful and sensitive guitar and Billy providing excellent lyrics, all mostly self penned.

Then by popular demand, on the 21st January we have Stool Pigeon. If you are upset by the golden age of saucy sea-side postcards and innuendo this is not the gig for you. However if last time’s attendance is anything to go by you best get to the club early. They really are an exceptional duo.

Finally on the 28th January, the John Richards Band. All followers of John will know that he has been around for quite a while (sorry John but you have). But the latest incarnation is well respected and always welcomed with enthusiasm at the Woodman. As well as the usual highly accomplished members we get Julia Disney on violin. I’ve not seen them play together so I’m looking forward with anticipation to an excellent night.

Wishing you a Happy New Year,

Pete
