Hi Folks,

Well, that’s our reopening month almost over and done with and we can safely say that we’re now ensconsed in the ‘season of mists and mellow fruitfulness’. The nights are drawing in and the heating has begun to go back on…..well for the wealthier patrons of the club anyway! We’re still huddling around a candle in the scullery and wearing 10 layers of clothing……sniff…..sob….

However at least we can all be gathered in the warmth of the club once a week so without further preamble this is what you can expect this month….

Friday 7th will be another of our legendary Singers Nights. You must know the drill by now but as a memory jogger suffice to say get there early to book your spot as Singers' Nights are very popular and slots are limited Alternatively, to be sure, it would be best to book a spot in advance by contacting Debby & Derry - contact details are on the home page.

Please note that if you have pre-booked a spot you need to be at the club before 8:30 to confirm, or the slot may be re-allocated.

Then on the 14th we are showcasing another brand new act to the club, known as Tu-Kay & Ryan. No, not - as the name might suggest - a couple of rappers, but an award winning acoustic duo featuring a fusion of alternative folk, Americana and roots music. Ash Tu-Kay and Rebecca Ryan have been performing together extensively since 2018, gigging all over the UK and internationally. Both Ash and Rebecca had been writing and performing original music independently prior to the duo's formation. After meeting in the spring of 2018 in a studio session with a mutual friend, they instantly formed a musical connection. Shortly after this they decided to collaborate on some of Ash's unfinished ideas and Tu-Kay & Ryan were born! They have recorded some material and merchandise will of course be available for you.

On Friday 21st our old friend Steve Tilston steps up to perform for us. Very much a club regular but due to circumstances that we’re all only too aware of we haven’t been able to see Steve since March 2019, but tonight that is about to be remedied. Steve is of course one of the premier names on the UK folk circuit and an international artiste too, He is a master of his instruments, primarily guitar but occasionally with other stringed variations too, as well as being a marvelous songwriter. He has released numerous CD’s over a long and illustrious career and we are proud to welcome him back to the club.

Finally for October, on the 28th Paul Walker & Karen Pfeiffer will magically materialize on the Woodman stage once again! I wouldn’t have believed it but my research tells me that it was back in May 2017 that Paul and Karen last appeared for us. For the benefit of those of you who’ve not seen them before, Paul & Karen both have their individual styles which combine beautifully and, together with their light-hearted banter, they provide a truly memorable experience. Karen adds alto-recorder, tin whistle and percussive instruments to Paul’s skilful guitar playing. They have now been performing together for many years at festivals and folk clubs all over the UK and Europe, and in their luggage they will proudly bring along their catalogue of 4 CD’s to date. Welcome back to the Woodman guys!

And that, as they say, is yer lot…..until next week of course when further musical delights await…….but for now……
