Well, here we are again then, the end of the year is fast approaching and the ‘C’ word has now definitely hove into view. We’ll all soon be up in the loft ferreting around for all the crap that we so lovingly stored up there just 5 minutes ago…....at least that’s what it seems like! It’s been a good Woodman year though, we’ve had quite a few new guests that will undoubtedly return, as well as lots of our old favourites that delight the club audience year on year. But sadly we now have only two guest nights left before……….….the seasonal break, so without further ado….

Friday 2nd will be the final Singers’ Night of the year so as usual get there early to book your spot as Singers' Nights are very popular and slots are limited However, to be sure, it would be best to book a spot in advance by contacting Debby & Derry either by phone or email - contact details are on the home page.
Please note that if you have pre-booked a spot you need to be at the club before 8:00 to confirm, or the slot may be re-allocated

Then on the 9th we have the very welcome return of a band that has now become a firm favourite at the club, The Jigantics. This will mark the sixth appearance at the club by this extremely talented four piece band comprising Keith, Sarah, Mark and Martin, all of whom share the vocals and between them play a mixture of stringy, squeezy and bashy things all of which combines together to make a rather pleasing noise. It was exactly one year ago that we last featured them at the club and a wonderful night it was too. History is littered with supergroup failures - attempts at putting together a bunch of talented musicians which don't produce the wonderful outcome you'd expect but when it does work, something spellbinding can happen and that’s exactly what you get from the Jigantics!

Finally, (all say…aaah!!), the 16th will once again feature a Christmas themed evening brought to us by Mad Jocks & Englishmen. Once again exactly one year ago we featured this wonderful local trio – although if I remember rightly, they didn’t have a particularly enjoyable journey home that night!! Anyway, we’ll gloss over that, this will be the fifth appearance of the irrepressible MJ&E to the club having been regulars since their triumphant debut in November 2016. The band are legendary around the folk clubs and festivals of Olde England having been recording and performing for over 40 years, so they know a thing or two about putting on a good show. The three original members that form the band are George Gallagher (vocals and guitar), Nick Weston (banjo) and Andy Brownlie (vocals, guitar and mandolin) and the music, though folk based, is now much more eclectic and the typical Jocks set will incorporate bluegrass, folk, contemporary, and a generous smattering of comedy. You won’t be disappointed!

And that about wraps up another fantastic year for the best folk club in the Midlands so have a wonderful break with friends and family and we’ll be here to welcome you all back on Friday 6th of January.

Cheers folks and, ‘Enjoy yourselves’
