Newsletter - July 2023

Hi folks, an early Newsletter as I’ll be away next week when I would normally send it but July is now just around the corner and as usual it’s a short month for Woodman club goers but entertaining nonetheless, so without further ado, here goes:-

On Friday the 7th we have a night off because, as always, we will be closed as the Woodman tends to move almost lock, stock and instruments to the world famous spectacular that is BROMSGROVE FOLK FESTIVAL! This will be the inaugural one at its new venue of Avoncroft Museum of Buildings. Hope to see you there.

Friday the 14th sees our final club night of the season as we look forward to a summer break of festivals, holidays, barbecues and whatever else floats our collective boats so, to take us out into the break in style we are introducing another new name for us namely, Tin Giants who are a 6 piece progressive folk-rock band with roots in Anglo-European and Celtic traditions….or so their website tells me. They consist of Bryan Causton on various stringed instruments and keyboards, Penni McLaren walker also on various instruments and lead vocals, Duncan moss on mainly blowy things but with keyboard and Hurdy-Gurdy thrown in for good measure, John Campbell Armer on guitar and bass, Fran Broady playing violin and harp and finally Martin Lindridge mainly on percussion. They all share the vocals so I think we can expect a rousing night and take great delight in welcoming them to the Woodman.

That will be all folks so enjoy the summer break and we’ll see you all again when you roll up in your droves to renew your memberships on September the 15th! Till then, Cheers and have a good break……
