Well, believe it or not, that was it, Summer that was, you may remember it
- a couple of days back in June! Otherwise, sadly it was the wettest for
many a long year, however.….several festivals visited and many pints
quaffed and before ye know it it’s Woodman opening time again, and once
again we have an exciting line-up for you this September to kick-start the
year off, albeit a slightly later start than usual, so fewer guests to
tell you about, but here goes: Friday 15th September will be the first one of our legendary Singers’ Nights. Don’t be disappointed, these singers nights are normally over-subscribed so do please contact Debby or Derry on 01384 560462 to ensure you get a floor spot. Alternatively just come and enjoy the talent on display. A great night is guaranteed! Also it will be membership renewal night: only £6 and you save a pound on every other night at the club. You know it makes sense! Please note that if you have pre-booked a spot you need to be at the club before 8:00 to confirm, or the slot may be re-allocated. On the following Friday (22nd) we are going to be welcoming Bruce Watson to the club. Bruce is a major Australian songwriter and performer in the folk tradition and of course this will be his first appearance at the Woodman. Based in Melbourne, he performs around Australia and internationally at festivals, clubs and other venues. His performances are joyful and thoroughly engaging, with witty lyrics and energetic presentation, but also the power to move audiences to tears. He is a masterful craftsman of songs, be they evocative and heart wrenching, or side-splittingly funny. Expect powerful songs, funny songs, and a genuine and joyous relationship with our audience. Big Woodman welcome Bruce!! Friday 29th sees a very welcome return visit of the magnificent Lost Notes. Perennially popular, home grown, (well, Brummagem), rootsy band that never fail to ‘let the good times roll’! This’ll be their fourth visit and if we’re to believe their website, “The Lost Notes are a five-piece band from Moseley, Birmingham, where politics, drunkenness and glee abound. It makes for a great night out”. Expect a fusion of several different styles all delivered in a very accomplished performance from excellent musicians with stunning harmony vocals. A warm Woodman return welcome for Ben, Oli, Lucy, Silas and Max……..The Lost Notes. A short month, but a good’n so come on down and enjoy yourselves! Tarrarabit, Rob xx |
